Membership Programs
A. Active Union Members of a Federation Local Bargaining Unit
There are no initiation fees and the current dues entitle such members to all collective bargaining and legal services set forth in the Federation Legal Services Plan, and to all voting rights set forth in the Federation By-Laws. Such members will also receive a membership card and window decals, the Federation newsletter and eligibility to participate in all other Federation benefit programs under the costs, terms and provisions of those programs. B. Active non-Union Members of a Federation Local Bargaining Unit Federation collective bargaining locals are Union Agency Shops under Civil Service Law. Such non-union employees receive the benefits and protections of bargaining unit membership and shall pay, each pay period, to the Federation a contract maintenance fee which shall be an amount of money equal to the amount paid by active Federation members under Section A above. The contract maintenance fee is equal to the amount paid by active Federation members so as to reflect the equal services rendered to and benefits received by all members of the bargaining unit local. This contract maintenance fee shall entitle such non-member bargaining unit employees to representation under the collective bargaining agreement, and to all employment-related legal services set forth in the Federation Legal Services Plan. Such non-member bargaining unit employees shall have no voting rights relating to ratification and/or amendment of the collective bargaining agreement, and shall have no voting rights relating to Federation union business.
C. Retired Members, and Individual Active Members who are not part of a Federation local bargaining unit The current dues are $26.00 per year and entitle such members to all voting rights set forth in the Federation By-Laws, as well as the Personal Legal Services offered at a reduced rate through the Federation Legal Services Plan. They will also receive a membership card and window decals for both United Federation of Police Officers and New York State Federation of Police, the Federation newsletter and eligibility to participate in all Federation benefit programs under the costs, terms and provisions of those programs.
D. New York State Federation of Police Associate Members Individuals who do not work in law enforcement and who would like to support the New York State Federation of Police may do so through our Associate Membership program. Contact our office by email through this website or, if you prefer, by phone or regular mail, and we will be happy to send a copy of the program brochure to you. Contributions and/or Membership dues are NOT TAX DEDUCTIBLE as charitable donations. Associate Member Telemarketing Program - Effective January 1, 2004, the New York State Federation of Police, Inc. discontinued using telemarketing for fundraising purposes. Contributions made through the Associate Member Telemarketing Program were NOT TAX DEDUCTIBLE as charitable donations. Any person receiving a telephone call from anyone looking for contributions in the name of the New York State Federation of Police, Inc., or the United Federation of Police Officers, Inc., is requested to take down as much information as possible (or request that that the caller send you information by mail) and contact our office at 1-800-227-4291 to report the call. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO ANY TELEMARKETING COMPANY USING OUR ORGANIZATION NAMES. E.
